Other Elections
I know we are all focused on the Presidential elections, but is anyone paying attention to the Congressional races as well as their local officials running for office? I posed this question and I got back a blank look from everyone.
“I though only the President election was going on.” a miffed person answered me.
“Why would I care about the other elections, the President controls the country.” a young woman on the streets of Washington, D.C. told me.
That is scray that someone in this city actually knows nothing about how this country is run. So I pose this poll to you. Do you pay attention to the other elections going on or do you vote only once every 4 years?

Hey, this is not a slight against Ted Kennedy. This is more of a concern for his well being. Ted has had a terrific run of staying in office and doing things over the years. Maybe it is time he hung it up and retired.
Is the power and recongnition too hard to give up? I would think that one day a man would want some relaxation time and to get away from the politics of Washington, D.C. Has there been relaxation the whole time there for him?
He has a cancerous brain tumor and a stroke. I would like to see him just retire and possibly enjoy the last bit of years left in him. I think that it is getting ridiculous that we allow our senators to get so old and stay in office until the last possible moment of their life.
This is not a knock on age, but a knock on our attitude that we should all work till we are in the grave. Life is much more then that, it is about finally getting to that day where we can just do what we like when we like. Ted Kennedy is 76 years old. He has served in the Senate since 1962. What more can he do?
I do hope he can recover and move on with a life outside of politics, and ride out into the sunset like the cowboy films of past.
